Stories & Success
We’re inspired by the lives of our residents and their families.
Lois Barnes
Lois Barnes, who has lived in the area for most of her life, moved to Oakley Courts about four years ago in August. She was drawn to the “homey” atmosphere and after visiting two other communities, Lois was quick to move once she had decided it was time for a change. She says her friends and the Oakley Courts staff are what she loves most about the community.
“The staff here are so caring and dedicated. It is also easy to meet with friends,” she said.
Lois’s favorite hobbies include puzzles, watching Hallmark movies, and visiting with her family.
“I have a wonderful family. They are very caring. They call or visit often. My children call very often, some every day Some at least once a week,” she said.
Those closest to Lois describe her has friendly and caring. Lois says she is most proud of her family and her Christian values.
Ronnie Binkley
Ronnie worked for 38 years at the Trust Made Life Insurance Company before retiring. Not long into his retirement he was hospitalized. It was during this time that his sister made it her mission to find him a suitable community for him to transition into as he recovered. Now, after more than a decade at Oakley Courts, Ronnie loves how friendly everyone is and how there’s always something to do. He exercises, plays bingo and card games, goes on scenic car rides, and sees entertainment regularly at Oakley Courts.
Nina Sheetz
She heard about Oakley Courts from friends before visiting, but after viewing only one other community Nina Sheets knew that Oakley Courts was where she wanted to live. It’s been four years now, and Nina says it’s her wonderful friends that make life great there.
“We pretty much all know each other now and take part in activities together,” she said.
Nina says she likes to listen to music, play card games and piece puzzles back together with her friends. She hopes her friends consider her friendly, fair, and helpful in any way she can be.
